What we believe

Our Faith & Beliefs

We are a Apostolic Pentecostal church rooted in the Word of God. Our beliefs are drawn directly from Scripture and have shaped our congregation since our founding.

Founded on Scripture

At The Pentecostals of Waycross, everything we believe flows from the Bible — God's inspired, authoritative Word. We hold to the foundational truths of the Apostolic faith as taught and practiced by the early church.

We believe in a life-changing encounter with God that transforms the heart, and we invite everyone to experience His love, grace, and power.

Core doctrines

What we stand on

Deuteronomy 6:4 · Isaiah 43:10–11

One God

We believe in one God — the Creator of all things — who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9), and there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved.

2 Timothy 3:16–17

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and the final authority for all matters of faith and practice. Both the Old and New Testaments are profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness.

Acts 2:38 · Luke 13:3

Repentance

We believe repentance is a genuine turning away from sin toward God. It is the first step in responding to the gospel — a heartfelt acknowledgment of wrongdoing and a sincere commitment to follow Jesus.

Acts 2:38 · Acts 10:48 · Romans 6:3–4

Baptism in Jesus' Name

We believe water baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ is essential for the remission of sins. This is the pattern established by the apostles and practiced throughout the New Testament church.

Acts 2:4 · Acts 1:8 · John 14:26

The Holy Spirit

We believe every believer can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, evidenced by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live a godly life and to be witnesses for Christ.

1 Peter 1:15–16 · Hebrews 12:14

Holiness

We believe God calls His people to a life of holiness — set apart for His purposes. Holiness is not merely outward conformity but an inward transformation that shapes how we think, speak, and live.

Matthew 16:18 · Ephesians 4:11–13

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ — a community of believers called to worship God, grow in faith, serve one another, and reach the world with the gospel. The local church is central to God's plan for His people.

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 · Revelation 22:20

The Return of Christ

We believe in the literal, bodily return of Jesus Christ. He will come again to receive His church, and every person will stand before God in judgment. We live with the hope and expectation of His soon return.
